Abdel was a huge asset to the Flex team this summer during his internship. During his time with us, he distinguished himself through his technical skills, strong work ethic, and ability to deliver practical results with minimal oversight.
Over the course of the internship, Abdel took ownership of several impactful projects. He successfully built and deployed an AI-powered visual inspection system using Anomalib PatchCore, which improved our ability to detect critical defects earlier in our assembly process and sped up our Incoming Inspection process. His work directly contributed to reducing manual inspection time and reducing defective components entering assembly. This led to reduced rework costs and unnecessary handling damage for the team.
In addition, he designed and implemented a receiving automation tool leveraging the Google Vision API and Python. This system was trained to handle varied label formats and automatically populate part, box, and location data, cutting down on manual entry and gave use the ability to link information in SQL reports we were not able to do previously.
Beyond his technical contributions, Abdel impressed us with his professionalism and initiative. He quickly adapted to our workflows, identified the right stakeholders when he had questions, and consistently delivered his work on time. He required little oversight, yet he was collaborative and receptive to feedback. These qualities made him a reliable and highly effective member of our team.
I am confident that Abdel will be a strong asset to any organization he joins. He combines technical depth with problem-solving ability, initiative, and a strong sense of responsibility. I wholeheartedly recommend him for any future role he pursues.

Worked with Book Reviewers, which entailed reading new books and writing a professional-level book review for the library's catalog website. This project helped the library gain knowledge of what books are popular with youth and recommend what books should be purchased for the library's collection. I worked independently on tasks assigned by my supervisor.
